Downsound Records artiste Nature, has decided to tweak his stage name and rechristen himself (drum roll please) Nature Ellis in a bid to strengthen his brand.

"I haven't changed my name, just added my surname because it is matter of branding. I am trying to differentiate my name to boost Internet searches for my music. Ellis is my real surname," he said.

Nature, who is known for songs including World Peace, Trying Man and Hold On, revealed that his name triggered too many other images and information on the Internet that had nothing to do with his soothing brand of reggae music.

"Nature is too broad, it can mean rivers, the environment, trees, forests, mountains, so with this name change, when someone googles my name, it will be easier to find my music and my videos etcetera, it is a straight branding move," the artiste, born Andre Ellis, said.

Branding has become an increasingly powerful marketing tool for creative artistes because having a brand is about knowing your authentic unique gift and communicating that gift to the people you want to attract.
