Bushman performs today at Mongoose Jamaica Restaurant and Lounge in Ocho Rios, St Ann, and promises patrons a performance to remember.

"Yuh know we always trying to please the crowd," the St Thomas-based artiste told THE STAR.

"My plan is to sing some songs so the people can have fun. Expect nothing more than roots and culture."

Known for hits such as Call The Hearse and Downtown, the artiste has just released How You Living, from his forthcoming album, Conquering Lion.

The song asks people the simple yet very important question, are you satisfied with the way that you're living?

"From I start singing, I've been doing music to build the mind, and that will never change. People say I should sing songs about gun, and dance, and sex and make some money, but we sticking to the roots and culture because we're losing the kids. We need to move our focus from food for the belly to food for the mind. We need to sing some good music."

Tomorrow's event will also feature Ocho Rios-based Little Hero and the Yaad Rootz band. Music will be provided by Crystal sound, with Blacka British and DJ JRock.

The event is part of Mongoose's weekly Saturday Night Live series. Gates open at 7 p.m.
