Stone Love drops G Blunt's mixtape today
Iconic sound system Stone Love will be releasing the mixtape, Tri State Thugs, for recording artiste and ghostwriter G Blunt today.
The mixtape is hosted by veteran selector Rory and will be distributed in the Caribbean and US.
"I am excited to have the project out on July the forth because it's a good period for music. July 4 is a major holiday in the US and, as such, this mixtape should be in big rotation in America, especially in the Tri- state area because my management team has been doing a lot of work that side of the fence," G Blunt said.
The mixtape also features American rapper, 50 Cent. The artiste pointed out that his main goal is to make his product internationally appealing.
"Dancehall music is the music of the summer globally and that is why you see people like Drake, Tyga, Tory Lanez, Rihanna and many others releasing dancehall-inspired songs. So me, basically, directing music of the focus to the foreign market is a clever move, if I can say so myself, because that is where the music is headed, and is supposed to be. Sure, we are grateful that dancehall is getting a recognition, but we want to be a part of the success. So I see myself as an international act because social media makes the world smaller," he said.
The mixtape can be heard on audiomack today and also features work for Guyana's DJ Magnum. Stone Love last hosted an artiste mixtape 10 years ago for Mavado.
