R5 ready for YMZ tomorrow
United States pop-rock band R5 arrived in Jamaica on Monday ahead of its debut performance at the family-friendly kids and teen concert YMZ, scheduled for tomorrow at the National Stadium.
The five-member sibling group (and their best friend) is one of the show's headliners, and so keen were they to explore Jamaica that they jetted in early enough to do just that. R5 is having a blast, having visited the Bob Marley Museum, Tutti Frutti-Sovereign, had a meet and greet with fans, and even kicked off a media blitz.
On Monday, they posted a picture on Instagram with the words: "WE'RE IN JAMAICA! Had a great time with @officialzip103fm."
Tomorrow will see the inaugural staging of YMZ at the National Stadium field in Kingston, and also making his Jamaican debut will be Billboard Award-winning artiste Silento. Other acts include Bling Dawg, Don Andre, and Voicemail.
"We urge kids, teens, and their parents to grab their most comfortable pair of dancing shoes and get ready to Whip, Nae Nae, Aji Bounce, and Tom Cruise on Saturday," said Dave Lindsay of Mysterious Music Minds, organisers of YMZ.
YMZ was officially launched recently at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel before a packed house of sponsors, media, artistes, and excited teeny boppers. The organisers pulled out all the stops, including a first at a Jamaican media launch by having a live link with R5.
