Singer J rises with 'Can't Stop Me Now'
Mainstream success has long eluded dancehall artiste Singer J, but his latest hit, Can't Stop Me Now, seems to have broken the drought.
The singer, whose real name is Omar Lattibeaudiere, is enjoying a musical high with the Frenz For Real- produced single.
"This is a song that the world needs. It is something to uplift people and allow persons to be inspired," Singer J explained.
He added: "I have put in a lot of hard work over the years and I feel the timing is right for me to launch out in a big way".
Singer J is the nephew of veteran songwriter-singer Bob Andy. Originally from the Waterhouse area of Kingston, he recorded his first song in 1991 for producer King Tuff. Dancehall fans know Singer J for the hits Wave Yuh Hand, Can't Stay Away, and Buss Yuh Gun.
"I've been to a lot of countries and I have learnt how to appreciate the different music and cultures that I have been exposed to. Music has been the foremost thing for me since I was a teenager, and it has given me a lot of opportunities," Singer J confided.
Singer J is among the artistes featured on the Irie FM Road Show, which recently stopped in Lucea and Negril, Hanover. This weekend, he performs in St Thomas and downtown Kingston.
"The road shows have been going very good. The fans have been great and enjoying the performances. Just going around Jamaica and seeing people react to your songs is a positive and motivating factor in music. It is truly a blessing," Singer J shared.
Singer J's current songs enjoying rotation include Put Jah First, Give Thanks for Your Blessing, One in a Million, and Let's Talk About It.
