Team Shella to rock Reggae Sumfest
Dancehall selector Ikel Marvlus is one of the top dancehall selectors in the game today.
He will underline his meteoric rise with Team Shella as one of the rising forces of dancehall with no fewer than three appearances during this year's Reggae Sumfest: Beach Party on July 17 at Aquasol Theme Park, Sound Explosion on July 21, and as the resident sound at Reggae Night on July 23.
"Mi team up with Flabba to form Team Shella and we a go shell the venues and create a party mood for all patrons. Team Shella a mek di people dem party straight, and then on Reggae Night, we a go play during the intermission and band changes," Ikel Marvlus said.
The jovial selector is known for his signature phrase, 'tuuuuurrrrnn', and his exciting juggling style. He first came to public attention when he got rave reviews for the introduction to Alkaline's popular breakout hit, Hold Dem. He also did an intro on Ishawna's Oo-la-la.
"Right now, Team Shella a do road hard," Ikel, whose real name is Charles Wilson, said.
As one of the founding members of Team Shella, Ikel is regarded as one of the most versatile DJs on Jamaica's party scene.
He hails from Rockfort, Kingston, and has continued to grow as a producer, promoter and recording artiste, collaborating and with several established and up-and-coming Jamaican acts such as Ishawna, Mr Vegas, Alkaline, FameStylez and Tajji.
"I'm working on expanding my name and craft, and I'm very excited about my partnership with Downsound Record to make great things happen in the music industry locally and internationally," the DJ said.
