Martin delivers at Summerjam
Christopher Martin delivered stirring performances before audiences numbering near 30,000 at the recent Summerjam Music Festival in Cologne, Germany, which culminated a brief but successful tour of Europe for the entertainer.
Martin was among several reggae/dancehall acts, including Stephen Marley, Chronixx and Sean Paul, who thrilled the tens of thousands of fans from across Europe who had assembled for the occasion.
He first performed solo and then, later on, with Gentleman, with whom he delivered their hit single, To The Top. Martin also performed Look On My Face, which he dedicated to entertainer Delus, who recently committed suicide.
Afterwards, he told the media there that for him, it was a truly memorable occasion. "It was awesome. The vibe from the crowd was awesome," Martin said. "It was the perfect way to close out the tour. I just can't tell enough how the energy was live and massive. The vibe from the crowd was exceptional."
He said Summerjam was the perfect place to showcase his talents before a European crowd.
"Summerjam is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, festivals in Europe, and for me to leave Jamaica and come to Europe on tour, it would be bittersweet if I didn't do Summerjam," he said. "I had to do Summerjam, it's a wonderful place to showcase your talent, to showcase my music. I am just blessed and the people loved my music and I love them, so it's a wonderful reciprocation."
He continued: "People come to enjoy music. When you go to a marketplace; let's say you love fine art and you go out and see the art that you really want to buy, that's what Summerjam is. They come for wonderful, sweet reggae music and we have so many different types of artistes to showcase that at Summerjam; and the organisers always do a wonderful job of bringing irie vibes to Germany."
