Sumfest Sound Explosion to erupt tonight
Dancehall fans are looking forward to what could be a rematch between iconic selectors Fire Links and Tony Matterhorn at Sound Explosion tonight as this year's Reggae Sumfest festival continues in Montego Bay, St James.
Earlier this year, Fire Links had outclassed Tony Matterhorn in four of the five rounds in a much-publicised clash. Fire Links' customised versions of Don Andre's Tom Cruise and Tanto Blacks' Real Rich effort inflicted wicked damage as the lyrics taunted Tony Matterhorn's social media wig-wearing character.
Dancehall insiders have said that they expect fireworks between the two at the event.
"People will be looking forward to both of them playing, that's for sure," Josef Bogdanovich, chairman of Summerfest Promotions, said. "This is going to be another high-octane event on Thursday night in Montego Bay."
Bogdanovich said that the beach party held on Sunday was a tremendous success. "Thousands of persons showed up. The show was excellent, Chromatic was great, Ikel Marvlus was brilliant, everyone was well prepared for the global brand that is Sumfest. The hostesses were amazing, Yanique and Ms Kitty brought the vibes, it gave Montegonians and other people a taste of the Kingston party scene," he said.
Bogdanovich reiterated that the greatest reggae show on earth was "six times more professional" this year. "The show is very inexpensive this year when compared to previous years, and I believe that the pro-Jamaica slant with all Jamaican artistes, dancers, and cast has gone down well with the local and international audience. This is a celebration of Jamaican culture," he said.
