Belizean artiste excited to work with J'cans
Belizean dancehall/reggae artiste Fuego is aiming to make a name for himself in the island and has inked collaborations with several Jamaican acts. According to the artiste, who recently shared stage with Aidonia, he wants to add his contribution to dancehall's rich legacy.
"I'm promoting quality dancehall music, sharing my own style and culture, and promoting my language in my music," he said.
The artiste is working with dancehall producer Deadly on The Beats, otherwise known as Deron Thompson. The seasoned producer is known for his work with the likes of Masicka, Gappy Ranks, Teflon and Eklypse.
"So far, the reception has been great. My music is now very popular in Italy, Canada, Jamaica, USA, France and London," Fuego said.
The artiste also hopes that through continuous collaborations with Jamaican musicians and artistes, he will get that elusive breakthrough.
"I think people should support my music because I bring a new style to reggae/dancehall with utmost respect for the fans. I don't disrespect the females in my music, it's just pure love; and, also, I want to be the voice of the people. I am a big fan of Vybz Kartel but purely his good aspects. I work with Jamaican artistes mostly because I feel that Jamaica is where I get most of my influence. Vybz Kartel, is not only lyrical and a great musician, but also very wise," he said.
Fuego is expected to spend the duration of the summer in the US working on new material.
