Mini Miss Portland for Sunday
Canada-based Jamaican entertainer Jannett Scott-Garvey is looking forward to being a judge at the staging of this year's Mini Miss Portland Beauty and Talent contest on Sunday in Port Antonio.
"This is a very special trip to Jamaica for me. I got re-married January 30, 2016, and my husband is an evangelist who will be at the event," Scott-Garvey, who performs under the name Lady Luscious, said.
The event, which will be held at 1A Boundbrook Avenue, Portland, this year, is a partnership between Scott's JAAMM Idol and Mini Miss Portland conceptualiser Sonia Patterson.
"Next year, we are trying to bring the top three girls at the Mini Miss Portland contest to represent the parish at the JAAMM Idol contest in Canada. We try to foster cross-cultural ties by having the JAAMM Idol winner perform at Mini Miss Portland, and vice versa," she said.
The JAAMM Idol talent competition is held in loving memory of Aleisha Ashley and Monique McKnight, who died in a tragic accident years ago.
