Mya, Jah Cure drops 'Only You'
R&B superstar Mya has teamed up with reggae crooner Jah Cure for a new, silky smooth single called 'Only You' that will be released next month.
The song is a collaborative effort by producers Anju Blaxx of UIM records, Tristan Boston of Fire Hazard Productions, Jack Spade Music and Justus Arison of JA Productions.
"The song came about through a series of connections between myself, Anju Blaxx and Tristan Boston from Fire Hazard Productions in LA. The song will be available on the digital outlets in the coming weeks. Jah Cure's verses were recorded in Jamaica and Mya's part of the song in Los Angeles," Arison said. "The process took quite a few months as we put a lot of time into the actual building of the riddim and production between Andrew, Tristan, Jack Spade, the other live instrument players and myself, not to mention an extensive mixing process with legendary engineer Marc Lee. The video is almost ready so we will be releasing it and the song to the public at the same time."
Mya, 36, has done well teaming with other artistes. Her most successful collab was Lady Marmalade, alongside Pink, Lil' Kim and Christina Aguilera, which won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2002.
She worked with Beenie Man on his song Girls Dem Sugar from his 2000 Grammy-winning Art & Life album. Last year, she teamed up with Vincentian singer Kevin Lyttle for the dance song, Bum Bum.
"I'm not sure if she has a new project in the making but hopefully, it will make her album if she does. Mya definitely seems to be a big fan of Jamaican music as this isn't her first collab with a Jamaican artiste as she has featured on Beenie's album in the past," Arison said.
