Sativa D Black 1 making moves
Singer Sativa D Black 1 is making moves musically. His current songs include 'Petty Thief', 'Elders' and 'Know Jah'.
He is pleased with the reception to the songs.
"Petty Thief was produced by YGF Records. It's a real story about the theft of a pair of shoes. Elders was produced by Hungry Mouth Productions and it speaks about older men who prey on underage girls. Know Jah is about getting to know Jah spiritually," he explained.
Sativa has been doing the promotional rounds at local media. He was recently interviewed on Irie FM's E Buzz, Hot 102 FM and Hitz 92 FM.
He recently performed to creditable reviews at Capleton's St Mary Me Come from stage show; England-based football star Daniel Sturridge's annual back-to-school event; as well as the stage shows Galiday Bounce, Sound Alarm and Foot Pon Sand.
The Linstead, St Catherine-bred entertainer, who was born Shaun Smith, was intrigued by music from an early age. A short stint on the hometown sound system Up Setters set the pace for his musical exploits.
He began using the name Tommy Skunk but later changed to Tommy Ice when he entered the Magnum King of the Dancehall competition in 2012.
"I entered Magnum King of the Dancehall due to encouragement from friends. I benefited a lot from the television exposure that I received," he recalled.
Sativa is managed by the New York-based Charm B Productions. He is currently working on the release of an EP. He hopes the positive work that is being put into his career will serve as the manifestation of other things to come.
