Top acts for PAN Regional 2
A high-powered serving of entertainment awaits patrons at PAN 2016, Regional 2 at Folly Oval in Portland on Saturday.
Aside from the popular Monster Milk Kiddies Village for the little ones and the young at heart, there are giveaways and various competitions on stage throughout the day. To wind down the day's festivities, patrons will get their fill of musical delight, courtesy of dancehall star Aidonia, gospel artiste Rondell Positive and 2015 Magnum King of the Dancehall winner Devin Di Dakta.
PAN 2016, hosted by CB Foods, is a culinary extravaganza where pan chefs compete in a live 60-minute cook-off. A winner and runner-up are chosen from each parish to advance to the grand final on October 30 in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, and vie for the coveted title of Grand Champion.
Parish winners will each receive $40,000 cash and gifts from sponsors, while the runners-up will receive $20,000 cash, as well as other prizes.
Competitors representing the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew, Portland, St Thomas, St Mary, St Ann, Trelawny and St Catherine will square off for pan chicken supremacy at PAN 2016 - Regional 2.
"This is the first time PAN will be in Portland and it's somewhat symbolic, considering Portland is the home of jerk. But we have lots in store for our patrons. They can expect amazing food and entertainment for the entire family," explained Alicia Bogues, brand manager at CB Foods.
A favourite for any pan chef is Walkerswood, who is once again a PAN partner. "We value our relationship with the CB Group and especially enjoy the connection to the Pan entrepreneurs, as it allows us to celebrate the men and women who are on the front line as Jamaica's culinary ambassadors," Sean Garbutt, group marketing director for Associated Manufacturers, commented.
Patrons will enjoy succulent and specially priced pan chicken at only $300 throughout the day and bar deals, courtesy of Red Stripe.
Telecommunications giant Digicel is also a partner for PAN 2016.
"Through PAN 2016 regionals, we are able to interact with our customers from all over Jamaica and share with them the latest in our products and services, such as our new Double Dat Value Plan. Patrons will be able to bite into some great deals on phones and credit when they stop by the Digicel tent," said Danielia McLean, sponsorship manager, Digicel.
Comedians Dufton 'Duffy' Shepherd and Boasy Bwoy Floyd will guide the day's proceedings. The event starts at noon. Admission is free.
