DMajor thrills in Colombia
DMajor, the man known as the Jamaican Brian McKnight, thrilled an audience last Friday night at the Green Moon Festival, held at the Wellingworth May Baseball Stadium in San AndrEs, Colombia.
The singer, who has had a good year with the release of a number of songs that have done well locally and overseas, was making his debut performance in that country and was so impressive that the show's promoter is already planning to have him back.
The lone reggae-dancehall act on the show, dominated by Latin performers, DMajor reeled off a number of his latest songs including Deal is Done, Nicest Squeeze, as well as former successes like Real Know Real and Real Friends (with Chris Martin).
"From sound check, the promoter was telling me I sang one of his favourite songs - Real Know Real - explaining that the song was big down there, and when I performed it on the show, I saw he wasn't lying," the recording artiste told THE WEEKEND STAR. "We did the acoustic version of Deal is Done, you could see every phone with the lights up. The song is becoming a real staple in the set now as just the melodies seem to be captivating."
DMajor revealed that immediately after the show, the agent was already talking about him performing in the four major cities in Colombia in the near future. "He even posted a video saying that, so it was a good vibe."
He said he had no idea his music was making such an impact in South America and it was a very pleasant surprise. "A good birthday present," said the entertainer, who celebrated his birthday on September 15.
