Popular comedian Rohan Gunter has copped the award for South Florida Entertainer of the Year at this year's International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA), held recently in Coral Springs, Florida.

This is his second win at the IRAWMA, as he won the Comedian of the Year Award in 2015. Other winners were singjay Nesbeth, who won Song of the Year for My Dream; Popcorn who won Deejay of the Year; and Skip Marley, who won the award for Best New Artiste

Gunter, who co-hosted the VIP Red Carpet at the awards ceremony, was surprised but grateful for the win.

He said: "It's quite an honour to be named South Florida's Entertainer of the Year, I have started quite a few projects and they are all paying off."

Despite a late start, the awards ceremony was one filled with an entertaining, cultural fusion of music and dance. The Florida-based comedian was also in his element as he co-hosted the main event, which was very entertaining.

He has excelled in his career since winning the first-ever local comedy competition 'Comedy Buss', in 2006. He moved to Florida and has since been engaged in several activities.

"For all the young comedians hoping to come into the industry, please remember you don't have to win the gold to win your goal," he advised.

Gunter has established a new promotion company called Projex Mygreat. He can be followed on Facebook at Rohan Mnl Gunter, Twitter and Instragram @GunterNahLaugh for more information on his productions and nomination.
