Dub poet Richie Innocent is one of the biggest supporters of the St Elizabeth Technical High School's (STETHS) daCosta Cup football team.

Since 2009 the Kingston-born poet, who played on the school's 1989 and 1990 daCosta Cup teams, has used poetry and music to motivate the students who represent the school's current side.

"Music is a big part of our culture, and we have to use it to encourage the youths to excel and achieve their goals, and it's working. Just look how successful the D'Cup team has been over the years," said the artiste.

Richie Innocent has also invited several other artistes to make recordings for the school team over the years, including Little Hero, Brimstone, River Man, Overall, Dainja Blaze, and Prophecy.

"The motivational programme that I've put in place for the team would not have been possible without the support of several of my artiste friends. There are also a number of STETHS students who have recorded songs in support of the team as well. I have to big up all the recording studios in Santa Cruz who lend us their support," said Richie Innocent.

The official theme songs for the 2016 team are Fly by River Man and STETHS Strong by Richie Innocent, Dainjah Blaze, and Overall.
