Contestants get boost for Magnum Kings and Queen
'Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall' is back for its 10th Season and will allow 10 lucky contestants to 'tek charge' of their audition experience with the new fast track system.
Fast-track will allow the contestants to bypass preliminary judging on audition day and go directly to the final judging with the show's three main judges at each location for a chance to qualify for the live shows.
The auditions for Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Season 10 begin tomorrow at Waves Beach in Negril.
To qualify for Fast Track in Negril, contestants were asked to upload a one-minute video on the Magnum Tonic Wine Facebook page with the hashtag #MKQ10Negril by yesterday. The video must have clean lyrics and be fit for airplay. The 10 fast-track winners will be announced today before the audition. Contestants are reminded that fast track only gets them past preliminary judging, so all contestants are still expected to turn out at the audition location.
Tamika West, marketing manager at J. Wray and Nephew, explained that the fast track system was a way to give contestants a boost.
"Fast Track allows them to not only have a chance to bypass preliminary judging, which increases their chances of making the live shows, but will also allow them to reach a much larger audience and, possibly, open doors and expose them to other opportunities outside of the show," she said.
"It is season 10, and this is also a way that we are saying thank you to the contestants for the tremendous effort and support they have given to the competition for the past nine seasons."
Following tomorrow's audition, the next audition will take place on November 26 at Island Village inside Ocho Rios, then on December 3 at Tolan's Total in May Pen. The next set of auditions will then be at the HEART Academy in Portmore on December 10 before taking over the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew on December 17. Audition shows are set to air on TVJ in January.
