Flava Don enjoying career boost
Fast-rising dancehall sensation Flava Don has many reasons to smile lately as his new single, 'Love Again', has found favour with local DJs.
The singjay, who hails from Red Pond, Spanish Town, St Catherine, says he feels honoured to be on their playlist.
"Right now it's a great feeling to know that deejays such as DJ Sunshine, DJ Wayne, ZJ Sparks and ZJ Johnny Kool are playing my music; which just goes to show that even in these times when controversy grabs the headlines more often than not, real talent can still get justice if one has perseverance" he said. Born Michael Cole, Flava Don has already recorded for several top-flight producers.
"Right now, me inbox look good, me getting rhythms from mainstream producers, as well as various agents and promoters from various parts of the world linking me to do projects; so the buzz is opening doors for me from all angles," he said.
Flava Don started his musical journey while attending Spanish Town High School, where he formed a group called the Flava Unit. His desk-thumping deejay sessions and mini clashes created a significant buzz in school and community events, where he further developed a name for himself. He started off writing songs with his friends at the age of 13 in the back of classrooms and the schoolyard, and would perform them when the opportunity presented itself. After much praise and encouragement, he then took his passion to the streets as well as community concerts.
He is currently signed to Raw Cash Productions and Huntley Johnson, based in the United States, and has previously released singles such as Touch and Fret, Gallis, Wine Up Yo Body and Fake Friend Sale. Love Again has an accompanying music video which is making the rounds on local TV and online.
