Karnival J'ouvert rocks Ocho Rios
The Ocho Rios Bay Beach was the scene of much excitement last Friday as approximately 1,500 passengers, who were part of the Uber Soca Cruise on the Norwegian Pearl, partied with scores of tourists vacationing in the resort town.
The event, Karnival J'ouvert, saw the cruise ship sailing from Miami to dock in Ocho Rios for six hours as the passengers revelled in Jamaica's party atmosphere, thanks to Kurt Riley, the party animal who provided music.
The party also featured other selectors and a special performance by soca stars Kes the Band.
The event, which was the brainchild of Chad Williams, Richard Roache, and Karnival Events, was marketed to tourists vacationing on the island by Sean 'Contractor' Edwards.
"The concept of the party was well received by the guests and the various tour companies as an entertainment option," said Edwards.
"I would also like to thank Inspector Juanita Vassell of the Ocho Rios Police Station, who provided the security for the event, which was incident free and harassment free for the visitors," he added
Karnival Events is hoping to stage an even bigger Karnival J'ouvert next year, with plans to incorporate dancehall music into the entertainment package next time around.
