Street promoter tries hand at producing
The 'Arcade' rhythm is the debut production from Andrew 'Worl Blast' Powell. Released on the Worl Blast Music label, it features songs from the likes of Beenie Man, Fambo, F.M.B., Teflon, Harry Toddler and Iyara.
Powell is known among industry players as a street promoter. Along with Boswell 'Stampede' Lammie, they promote music to the streets for both established and up-and-coming artistes.
Powell has now decided to follow his musical pursuits, not just as a producer, but also as a deejay. His debut single Do di Do features Jiggy Ras.
Do di Do has garnered over 120,000 views on YouTube in less than three weeks.
"Feedback has been crazy. People from all over have been linking me about the song. More than 120,000 views on YouTube and over 500 DJs worldwide have downloaded the song," said Powell.
Powell, who is originally from West Kingston, now resides between Jamaica, Boston and Connecticut. He plans to extend additional assistance to up-and-coming acts when he opens his very own recording studio over the next few months.
"I plan on releasing a lot more songs and rhythms. I'm also working with new artistes like Sagitarr, Kirky D, Alandon, Jahman, and others.
I'm taking my brand to a whole new level," he said.
