Kalado goes viral with 'Sex Slave'

December 02, 2016

Dancehall artiste Kalado is praising social media for the growing popularity of his new song, 'Sex Slave'.

The single, which was picked up by international website World Star Hip Hop, due to a viral dance clip featuring controversial dancer Marvin the Beast, has been viewed more than two million times.

Kalado told THE WEEKEND STAR that he is overwhelmed by the success of the song so far.

"It's a great feeling to see people reacting online because social media is one of the greatest promotional tools right now. Social media is very important because it reaches out to everybody and it is fast and brings videos straight to your phones. It is a very important marketing tool, and it's amazing to see how much persons learn the words of a song just from online," he said.

Kalado has so far filmed two music videos for Sex Slave in an attempt to capitalise on the social-media attention. He also revealed that he decided to produce two separate music videos based on the requests of popular dancers who loved the song.

"Sex Slave has a World Cup concept and one with a Steel Band orchestra. Marvin and Sher were the ones who organised one of the concepts and asked me to be a part of it. I agreed and that video also helped to take the song go another level," he said.

New songs from Kalado, like Respect pon Mi Name and Bounce, are also receiving strong rotation. Sex Slave was produced by the Sliver Bird Steel Band and is their first production attempt.
