Dog show excites at Caymanas
Scores of dogs descended upon Caymanas Park, St Catherine, recently at the 15th staging of the Goode Promotion Dog Show and Family Fun Day.
It was an affair for dog enthusiasts who were exposed to canines of all sizes, temperament, training and colours.
CEO of Goode Promotions Morris Goode said the event has grown into a family affair and that it feels better each year.
"When we started the show here, it was mostly persons within Portmore who would come and parade their dogs. This has changed over the years with the involvement of international judges ... we now have competitors from all over Jamaica participating," Goode said.
He said that the sponsorship for the show is challenging, but with determination the show goes on. Patrons said that it was an enjoyable affair and are awaiting the next instalment.
"Can you imaging that these dogs take the command of their handlers so well? It is no wonder they are call man's best friend. I hope next time they will demonstrate how to properly care for the animals and so forth, as this would help persons to be more caring about dogs," Monica Tomlinson said.
During the day's activities, there were obedience dog drills and the best dressed mongrel competitions, the latter bringing cheers from the fans who marvelled at the smartly attired dogs.
