King Addies celebrates 33 years of success
Veteran sound system King Addies will be celebrating its anniversary on Friday at Club Amazura in New York.
The 33-year-old sound system is known for its clashing onslaughts as well as its former partnership selector Tony Matterhorn, which led to his rise to stardom.
The anniversary celebration will also feature sound systems like Stone Love, LP International, Bass Oddessy, Mighty Crown, Rough Pack, and King Fargo.
The event will also feature veteran reggae one-drop selector Danny Dread. He will deliver a rare one-hour juggling presentation featuring King Addies dubplates and specials on only vinyl records.
"Danny Dread was the selector at Bob Marley's historic 1978 One Love Peace Concert, held in Kingston, at which Bob unified inner-city leaders and brought political party leaders on the stage in an unprecedented show of unity. He was also the first selector to receive and play Bob Marley's War and Get What You Want, which was given to him directly from Marley," selector Dinero told THE STAR proudly.
The King Addies sound system is based in both Westmoreland and New York and is one of the most sought-after clash contenders in the world.
"We are the only sound to win the annual Global Clash three times in a row," Dinero boasted.
He also told THE STAR that despite the heavy snow in New York, anticipation was high. He further hinted that several European and Japanese fans would be in attendance.
"We are a global sound it's definitely going to be crazy. A lot of persons flying in for this," he said.
