I-Octane to self produce next album
Reggae-dancehall artiste I-Octane is gearing up to release his first self-produced album - Love and Life.
The album will be released under his label Conquer the Globe productions.
"I want this album to be based on life itself - my life and the lives of others. People can always relate to love and life, so I will be covering all different aspects of both topics," he said.
The album will feature work from other reggae-dancehall producers. However, I Octane believes that after a decade in music, he should be turning another chapter.
"This is my third official worldwide album and the team came together and say, 'Octane, now is the time to go worldwide with your own production. You have your own studio, so own your own things now and produce some songs for yourself'," he said.
The artiste also said that by dabbling in production, his efficiency as an artiste would improve.
"I have first-hand experience in production because most of my songs, I write them, and I am also involved in the production process through micromanagement," he said.
The singjay also said that he is trying to play musical instruments like the guitar and the keyboard to strengthen his musical ability. He is also looking to put as many as 16 songs on the album.
The album will also dabble in EDM and other international genres. He has also collaborated with artistes like Shaggy and Spice.
As it relates to album sales, he did not want to predict the album's potential.
"Most of the money these days comes from performances unless a miracle happens. Mi nah pree it from a money perspective. Mi just a pree sey these songs a go out in the world and generate a buzz for shows," he said.
