Macka Diamond releases 'Tabanka'
Dancehall star Macka Diamond has released a new single, 'Tabanka', which features diamond-selling star Charly Blacks.
"The song is blowing up all over the Internet. A lot of disc jockeys have called me for the song. DJ Sunshine, DJ Bones, and several others have called to ask me for the song, and the feedback from the fans on the channels of various YouTubers has been great so far," Macka Diamond said.
She hopes to shoot a new video for the project soon. She has stepped up promotion in the streets, doing a number of viral videos using dancehall personalities.
"'Tabanka' is a word that describes an obsessive relationship where one of the partners is so infatuated and in love that they get to the point where they can't eat or sleep. Tabanka is a serious word in Trinidad and the islands, and the song a tek off because many people can relate to it," she said.
The song is produced by Spine of the Big Boiz label in Trinidad and Tobago.
Macka Diamond's previous single, 25 Inches , on the Fornication rhythm by Hitmaker Muzik label, has been doing well. The video which was released over four weeks ago, has racked up thousands of views and hit the top ten of the FIWI Choice top 10 charts.
Macka Diamond is looking forward to getting a career boost from the US-based independent label, which will be pushing her latest single, The Children, on the Caan Get over You rhythm, which also features label mates Singing Sweet and Kibaki.
She returned to Jamaica after a three-week Macka Diamond 25 tour that started on June 7.
