The annual Merritone Family Fun Festival is takes place on Sunday, August 13 at Heckscher State Park, in East Islip, Long Island, New York.

While all the talk is about the upcoming performances of veteran singer Leroy 'Heptones' Sibbles and New York home grown talent Ed 'Knocking At Heaven Door' Robinson, this year's event is offering a whole lot more than the music.

The Merritone Family Fun Festival, which was first staged in July of 1998 at Pinecrest in Shelton, Connecticut, was the brainchild of Winston 'Merritone' Blake and Conroy Allison.

According to Allison, the19th staging will be a celebration of the life and legacy of Blake, who passed away in February 2016.

"We will properly recognise this icon for his contribution to music and the entertainment industry. The Blake brothers, Trevor and Monte, will attend this year's presentation and will dedicate a special musical segment to the memory of their brother," he said.

Allison noted that over the years, they have always tried to outdo their last effort and this year will be no different.

"This year's family fun day will have added significance given that our blessed island of Jamaica is celebrating 55 years of independence and we plan to celebrate it in a big way," he continued.
