Naomi Cowan follows parents' footsteps
Naomi has sharpened her creative cutlery to carve out a soulful rendition of 'You're Gonna Lose' alongside Mark Pelli. The artful masterpiece, which was released on September 22, is well on its way to becoming a massive success.
She expressed that the song is dear to her as it was originally sung by The Jamaicans, a rocksteady group that included her father, Tommy Cowan. Her mother is gospel singer Carlene Davis.
So it comes as no surprise that she would follow in their footsteps.
Armed with strong vocals and a modern feel, the powerhouse songstress is in top form, based on the exceptional feedback she has been receiving.
She says, "When my friend Michael Asante of the A&R Report first introduced me to Mark Pelli, I knew it would be an opportunity to do something different, something special and significant to people who truly love the genre."
A music video reflecting her unique style and artistic vision is on the horizon, and she tasked Donisha Prendergast, granddaughter of Bob Marley, to give a visual worthy of accompanying this already timeless classic.
Naomi expects only greatness from her music career, and with that said, she hosted her single release party for You're Gonna Lose in Toronto on October 14. This initiative will also be benefiting islands devastated by hurricanes Irma and Maria.
"I've decided to use my own music as a vessel to do good. I want people to expect a sound that is empowering, sweet and refreshing to their hearts," she said.
