As Rondell Positive’s Open to Purpose (OTP) school tour draws to a close, the gospel artiste is hoping to help change the lives of several ‘challenged’ students through the tour’s Youth Leaders Entrepreneurship Advancement Programme (Y-LEAP) initiative.

Approximately 1,000 students were identified during the tour as children who could potentially unlock their true purpose in life if offered a little extra help.

Speaking with Gospel Spotlight, Rondell Positive said Y-LEAP will revolutionise the mindset of Jamaican youths.

“Our intent is to bring to light the greatness that every Jamaican possesses and activate that greatness into economic value. The targeted students will benefit in ways that are transformational. I was one of the students who in high school really struggled to find my identity. If it were not for a few words and persons who left an indelible mark, I could have turned out otherwise. It’s possible society would be threatened by me,” he said.

Business potential

Being guided by the theme Open to Purpose, the seminar will take the form of three sessions, focused on leadership and maximising business potential in youth.

Dr Dave Burrows, senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries Church, and president of Bahamas Faith Ministries International, and authors Jamar and Nastassia Wright will be speakers.

The sessions are expected to get under way on November 20 at the Jamaica Conference Centre.

Other guests are set to join the platform of speakers, along with well-known gospel acts who will minister to students through music.

Pleased with the impact the school tour has had on the youth population, an overjoyed Rondell Positive said this is just the beginning of great things to come.

“We have received over 60 requests from schools all over the island. Parents are sending us messages, students, teachers, principals, asking that we visit them and note this tour is not one where we go on with entertainment to promote,” he said. “We also received messages from people in Trinidad, Cayman Islands, US, UK and Canada for us to plan for their schools. This is just a glimpse of what I imagined. You have not seen anything yet. We had set out to ignite 18,000 Jamaican youth and we’re just getting started! We are OTP and we’ll not stop. The next generation is about to shift the world and it begins here, Jamaica the parent of all nations.”
