Debbie Burp elated to make stage debut

Social media sensation Debbie Burp was given an early Mother's Day gift on Saturday night at the 450 concert held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, as dancehall diva Ishawna brought her on stage to perform.

"I am feeling really good because it's the first time I'm going on an actual stage show to perform. Tomorrow is Mother's Day, so it's a double celebration to be sharing music with the women who love it," Debbie exclaimed.

The breakout artiste, whose given name is Deborah Darby, has seen her passion for music culminate in her recent rise to fame through viral social media videos. Reflecting on her journey, she stated, "This is music I have done some 17 years ago just a buss, mi really a come from a far and mi haffi big up all a the people them weh run wid it."

Recalling where her music journey started, Burp shared, "All when mi inna the streets a sell down a town, people see me and say, 'Debbie Burp run the music'; mi do it. A nuh my phone do the recording, so a who run it always a eat more food than me."

Now, Burp hopes to translate her success into financial gains with the possibility of becoming a full-time artiste.

"Mi love music, so mi nah go tell you yes or no. My music, so far, a nuh write mi sit down and write. When mi under mi weed mi just do my thing, and it come out to something weh people gravitate to," she said.

In an exclusive preview for THE STAR, she teased a new single she's been working on, featuring raunchy lyrics that explore her desires. She hinted at Skatta Burrell being her producer, crediting him and Ishawna for pushing her into the spotlight.

"Him and Ishawna give me the opportunity, and you can know a clean-hearted people dem," she emphasised. Both Ishawna and Burrell expressed their support for Burp, acknowledging her talent.

"Recognising Debbie Burp as "naturally talented", Ishawna affirmed her commitment to supporting her in the music industry.
