Tom Hanks warns about AI technology scams

Tom Hanks is speaking out against "fraudulent" advertisements that misuse his image through AI technology.

The Forrest Gump star issued a stern warning to fans, urging them not to fall victim to these misleading promotions that falsely imply his endorsement of "miracle cures and wonder drugs".

In a statement posted to Instagram, titled 'Public Service Announcement from Tom Hanks', the actor, 68, said that he has no connection to these ads, which have been created without his consent.

"There are multiple ads circulating online that falsely use my name, likeness, and voice to promote miracle cures and wonder drugs," Hanks wrote.

"These ads have been produced fraudulently using AI technology. I have nothing to do with these products, treatments, or the spokespeople promoting them."

Hanks, who has type 2 diabetes, emphasised that he only consults with his board-certified doctor for his treatment. He urged his followers, "DO NOT BE FOOLED. DO NOT BE SWINDLED. DO NOT LOSE YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY."
