T-Wain tackles envy on new single

Trelawny-based recording artiste T-Wain tackles the issue of bad mind and envy on his latest single Mankind (Ungrateful People).

The song, which is produced by Wellbad Muzik, was released in October. According to T-Wain, the reception to the song has been positive and an eye-opener.

"The song is basically talking about bad mind and people who claim to be your friend. It is based on personal experience and a lot of people can relate to the message. I've been able to deal with this issue by distancing myself and leaving the rest to God," said T-Wain.

He added, "The response to the song has opened a lot of eyes and it has also given me a wider fan base."

Now residing in the Jackson Hill area of Trelawny, T-Wain began his musical journey eight years ago.

"Music for me began in the church. I used to reconstruct the lyrics to popular secular music into gospel music. I am involved in other aspects of music including producing for other artistes on my label Wellbad Muzik," said T-Wain.

He said the rise of diamond-selling dancehall artiste Charly Black, also a resident of Trelawny, has amplified his passion to achieve similar musical success.

"Definitely, Charly has been one of my musical heroes and he motivates me to go harder to get the success he's accomplished or better, so I can help the up-and-coming artistes in and around my parish," he said.

"My journey as a musician has been a very long one, but I never give up chasing that dream. I am fortunate for all the opportunities I have received thus far, and I look forward to future experiences. I hope that one day I will be able to accomplish my next long-term goal."

T-Wain, real name Twain Greenwood, aspired to become a pilot while attending high school. He worked as a barber before he embarked on a career in music.
