Republic Weekend eyes big début

October 13, 2026

Heroes Weekend could have a new contender for patrons’ attention this year with the launch of Republic Weekend, a four-day entertainment package that will bring five events to Plantation Cove in Ocho Rios from October 16 to 19.

The venture, created by Republic Enterprises Limited, is aiming to capitalise on the growing demand for destination-style entertainment experiences, where patrons can travel for a long weekend and move between multiple events without leaving a single venue.

Republic Weekend will feature Fanatic Festival, Rosé N’ Roses Fest, Night Carnival, Republic Beach Club and Republic Bush, combining dancehall, brunch culture, carnival celebrations, beach activities and J’ouvert-inspired festivities.

According to Dr Mikhail ‘IQ’ De Gale, managing director and director of marketing at Republic Enterprises Limited, the event was designed around entertainment habits that already exist among Jamaican partygoers.

“We saw an opportunity to bring people together for a complete Heroes Weekend getaway built around music, culture and the experiences they already love,” said De Gale. “Through our individual events, we’ve seen how much people enjoy having a reason to travel, reconnect with friends, and celebrate. Republic Weekend brings that into one destination, with five distinct experiences over four days at Plantation Cove.”

With Appleton Estate signing on as title sponsor, the inaugural staging has secured support from one of Jamaica’s most recognisable rum brands. According to Communications Manager Dominic Bell, the partnership aligns with the company’s longstanding association with Jamaican culture and events that bring people together.

“Republic Weekend presents an exciting opportunity to bring people together through the music, culture and experiences that make Jamaica such a special place to celebrate,” Bell said.

“We look forward to seeing the event grow into a major fixture on Jamaica’s entertainment calendar,” he added.

The weekend opens on Friday with Fanatic Festival, which organisers say will showcase emerging dancehall acts including Top Banks, Feloni, AI Milly and C9.

Rosé N’ Roses Fest and Night Carnival follow, before Republic Beach Club and Republic Bush close out the holiday weekend.

De Gale says the strength of the concept lies in its variety.

“The combination is what makes it exciting,” he explained. “Fanatic Festival, Rosé N Roses, Night Carnival, Republic Beach Club and Republic Bush each bring their own personality. Together, they give patrons a weekend that moves through dancehall, brunch, carnival, beach culture and J’ouvert, while also bringing visitors and business to the north coast.”

The organisers hope the inaugural staging can establish itself as a recurring attraction on Jamaica’s Heroes Weekend calendar while drawing both local and overseas visitors to St Ann.

“We want people to leave feeling that they made the right decision to spend their Heroes Weekend with us,” De Gale said. “Above all, we want patrons to feel connected and well looked after. Whether they came for one event or all five, they should feel that they were part of something special and already be talking about coming back next year.”
