Three months for receiving stolen car

November 09, 2015

A St Catherine man was sentenced to three months hard labour in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

He is Jermaine Brown, 34, unemployed from Deeside in Linstead.

When Brown appeared before Resident Magistrate Llyle Armstrong he was told that a custodial sentence was in order for him.

He was informed that he will still remain with the police after the sentence as he is now answering to a sexual offence.

Brown was one of three St Catherine men charged with receiving a stolen motor car. His co-accused Jason Nelson and Jermaine Francis were freed by the court during the trial which ended two weeks ago.

The Crown led evidence that about 10:30 p.m. on April 20, 2011, the complainant was inside her Mitsubishi motor car in Deeside when she was robbed at gunpoint. The vehicle was driven away by the man.

The matter was reported to the Linstead police and an investigation launched.

On May 21, 2011 the police intercepted the vehicle in Bonnet District in Guys Hill, St Catherine with Nelson, Francis and Brown on board.

They were arrested and following further investigations, were charged by Detective Constable Gregory McLeod.

Clerk of Court was Nicole Kellier.
