Three months for robbing student

A man was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on Friday in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court after he was hauled before the court for stealing a cell phone from a

student.

Charged with robbery is Jamarley McIntosh.

He pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard that on January 6 the complainant was on his way home from school when he was held up and robbed of his LG smartphone.

The court also heard that McIntosh had threatened to shoot the complainant if he disobeyed.

The father of the complainant also told the court his son feels intimidated and was afraid to attend school.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey sentenced McIntosh to three months after he apologised for his act.

A fingerprint order was also made.
