A flight attendant heading to New York was allegedly caught with 3.4 kilogrammes of cocaine in his luggage at the Norman Manley International Airport, before police seized a licensed firearm and more than 120 rounds of ammunition at his Kingston home.

The accused is 49-year-old Troy Ingleton, a dual citizen of Jamaica and the United States, who was arrested on Monday, October 12.

Detectives assigned to the Firearm and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) subsequently charged him following the seizure at the airport.

Reports are that about 8 a.m., Ingleton arrived at the airport to board a flight to New York when routine security screening detected anomalies in his luggage.

A detailed search reportedly uncovered a pouch containing two rectangular packages of cocaine weighing a combined 3.4 kilogrammes, or 7.5 pounds.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $2.9 million.

Following his arrest, FNID investigators conducted a follow-up operation at Ingleton’s Kingston residence about 1:30 p.m.

During a search of the premises, the investigators seized a licensed 9mm pistol and more than 120 rounds of ammunition.

Further details about the charges laid against Ingleton were not provided in the information released by the police.
