Inmate scams people from prison

January 27, 2017

Andrew Lee Pryce, an inmate charged with breaches of the Larceny Act, pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to obtain money by means of false pretences when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.

Pryce, who is currently serving time for similar offences at one of the island's adult correctional facilities, was charged with breaches of the Forgery Act by detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency on January 5.

It is alleged that Pryce, who is believed to be the mastermind, conspired with a correctional officer, Toraine Tullochin, who posed as a policeman and entertainment producer, to fleece several persons of large sums of money.

Tullochin was also arrested and charged in December for his involvement in the fraud scheme that was being operated from inside the correctional facility.

Pryce is scheduled to return to court on January 30 in relation to other charges connected to the conspiracy.
