Jamaicas pack into the National Stadium in Kingston for a Grand Gala celebration.

A strong Tropical Wave across the central Caribbean could dump water across the country this weekend and dampen Independence celebrations in the process.

The Meteorological Service said yesterday that the system is currently producing a large area of showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the Caribbean Sea.

"We are expecting showers, thunderstorm and strong winds," a forecaster at the Met Service said.

According to the Met Service, the unstable weather conditions are expected to affect sections of most parishes beginning on Saturday night and continuing through to Monday.
