Job on the line after reporting sexual harassment

Just two months after securing his first job right out of high school, Shane Williams* is scared that he might be out of a job soon, after his supervisor threatened to get him fired for reporting an instance of sexual harassment to his boss.

The 19-year-old man, who works at a food establishment in St Andrew, told THE STAR that he was touched inappropriately on the weekend by a male supervisor.

"He called me to do something, and before I could turn around to answer, he pulled my apron towards him, and started to look inna my eyes with a smirk pon him face," Williams said.

He said he was so disturbed that he stormed off the job and decided to report the matter to the CEO at the head office first thing on Monday.

"I went down to the boss this morning (Monday) at the head office, and things got out of hand," Williams said. "I told him that the man sexually harass mi, and him just say that I should go back to the work and mi wasting him time."

Williams said when he asked the CEO if he wasn't going to listen to his concerns, he said he was told to leave the office or else he would be fired.

"Right now I don't know if I even have a job," Williams said.

THE STAR tried unsuccessfully several times to contact a representative from the company for a comment.
