Ainsley Carless, the senior motor vehicle inspector at the St Thomas Island Traffic Authority, has been murdered.

Carless was attacked and shot in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Sunday night after arriving at his house with his wife.

According to police report, the couple was attacked by armed men travelling in a motor car who opened fire hitting them.

They were taken to the hospital where Ainsley was pronounced dead while his wife was admitted in hospital.

Transport Minister Mike Henry condemned the killing, saying it was an attack on law and order.

"Enough is enough and that the time has come and long pass when the 'many' should demonstrate a higher level of righteous indignation against the 'few' who are perpetrators of crime and violence," he said.

Henry said that he was happy that Carless's wife survived the attack.

He is also urging eyewitnesses to give the police any information they may so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.
