Basil James and Wayne Gadishaw walked away with accolades for philanthropy at the Kingston and St Andrew Social Development Commission (SDC) Community Incentive and Grants Award ceremony last weekend.

The ceremony, held at the Blue Mountain Suite at the Knutsford Court Hotel, Kingston, was used to recognise men and women across the 84 Corporate Area communities who have been giving service to their communities.

Admarie Phipps and Margarette Groves were awarded for volunteerism; Tavian Jones and Kimani Martin won for youth in service; Delores Treasure and Novelette Howell were awarded for leadership, and Tracy-Ann Johnson and Tamara Reynolds won for community development.

Special awards were presented to Mount Salus Farmers' Group, Harbour View Citizens' Association, Stadium Gardens Citizens' Association, and Eastwood Gardens Youth for Progress Youth Club. They were recognised for being outstanding community-based organisations.
