450,000 Canadian tourists expected
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett said that projections are for 450,000 visitors out of Canada this year.
He said that there were 405,000 visitors from Canada last year up from 370,000 in 2016, reflecting a nine per cent increase.
Bartlett said that there has been continued growth in tourism despite increased security operations.
He said that for January, Jamaica saw a 6.8 per cent increase in arrivals, with 7.6 per cent growth during the period when the enhanced security was implemented.
Bartlett and his team will journey to London, New York, and central and continental Europe later this month to promote the destination and its offerings.
