Jamaica Defence Force soldiers patrolling the streets in August Town, St Andrew, after several persons were shot, one fatally, in the community last month.

There was high military presence in August Town, St Andrew, yesterday as soldiers entered the community allegedly in search of men.

When the news team contacted the August Town Police Station, they confirmed the presence of the soldiers, but said that the presence of the soldiers was merely "a regular operation in the area."

However, things didn't seem as normal to one member of the community, who told THE WEEKEND STAR that the soldiers were seen in the community at about 4 p.m.

"Right now the soldier dem just a scrape up man," said the resident, who wanted to remain anonymous.

He added that some areas in the August Town community are on edge because of the killing of a don's son.

The community member said that even though sections of the community is on edge, people still have to cautiously go about their daily business.

THE WEEKEND STAR made attempts to contact Major Basil Jarrett regarding the matter, however calls to his cell phone went unanswered.
