Female vendor fights gunman

A Clarendon vendor fought a lone gunman last Saturday in the May Pen Market after he attacked and tried to shoot her.

Reports from the May Pen police are that at about 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, the gunman approached the vendor at her stall.

It was said that the man brandished a handgun in an attempt to harm the woman, and she responded by grabbing the gun.

The two began to tussle and shots were fired.

Six persons, including the vendor, were shot.

THE STAR understands that the gunman ran from the area after the shots were fired.

Following the incident, the police were called and the injured persons were taken to hospital where they were treated.

Investigations are ongoing.
