An elderly man who allegedly purported to be the landlord of shop spaces located in the Corporate Area was hauled before the courts to repay $110,000 he received from a businesswoman.

Oneil Baugh is charged on an indictment for a one count of fraudulent conversion. It was shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court that the complainant contacted Baugh, who engaged her in conversion about renting a property located off Washington Boulevard, St Andrew.

The complainant paid $110,000 to Baugh and was told that the property would be available for her to occupy. Two weeks after she paid her monies, the complainant asked for the keys to property but was told that the property was not yet ready for her to occupy as the monies were used for renovation and to purchase water tanks.

Baugh, who did not enter a plea when he appeared before Parish Judge Luciana Jackson on Wednesday, indicated that he will repay the complainant $100,000 and would request additional time to pay the remaining $10,000.

The payment was made in court and Baugh is to return to court on Friday.
