‘Spiritual healer’ charged after alleged assault on teen

October 12, 2026

A self-proclaimed spiritual healer who allegedly promised to rid a 14-year-old girl of a spiritual spell but instead sexually assaulted her during a ritual has been charged, while the child’s grandmother is also facing a charge.

The 31-year-old St Catherine man has been charged with rape, sexual touching and practising obeah.

The girl’s grandmother has been charged with consulting a person practising obeah.

According to allegations, the accused promoted himself on social media as a spiritual healer who could help people who believed they were under spiritual spells and needed healing.

It is alleged that about 1 p.m. on August 28, 2026, the grandmother contacted the man and requested his services.

The accused reportedly provided an address in Bog Walk, St Catherine, where the woman and her granddaughter travelled to meet him.

Upon their arrival, the man allegedly took them to a shed on the premises, where he performed rituals on the teenager.

During the ritual, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.

The allegations have resulted in charges against both the accused and the grandmother.
