A St Andrew technician who police allege rented a car to transport a gunman to carry out a fatal attack on a woman in Kingston has been charged with murder.

Antoneo Palmer, 30, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder and misprision of a felony in connection with the September 26 shooting death of 25-year-old Omiela Walker, otherwise called ‘Naana’.

Walker, who lived on Hibiscus Avenue, Kingston 11, was shot dead in the attack.

According to the Hunts Bay police, Palmer allegedly rented a 2015 Toyota Axio motor car, which he and an alleged accomplice used to travel to the area.

Reports are that about 7:25 p.m., the vehicle was parked near Walker’s gate.

A man allegedly exited the car, approached Walker and opened fire, hitting her in the upper body and head, police said.

The gunman reportedly returned to the vehicle and fled with his alleged accomplice.

The police were summoned, and Walker was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators reportedly used closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the vehicle allegedly used in the attack. The car was later seized for processing.

Palmer subsequently surrendered to the police and was charged following investigations.

Misprision of a felony refers to an offence involving knowledge of a serious crime and failure to report it to the authorities.

Palmer’s court date is being finalised.
