ST JOHN'S, Antigua (CMC):

Leeward Islands Hurricanes all-rounder Kevon Cooper was rushed to hospital here yesterday with a facial injury following an on-field collision with teammate Gavin Tonge, during the Regional Super50 contest against Windward Islands Volcanoes at Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The incident occurred on the deep mid-wicket boundary during the Volcanoes innings as Tonge sprinted around the ropes to pull off a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Darren Sammy.

Trinidadian Cooper crashed into Tonge and had to be stretchered from the field.

Fast bowler Tonge was able to continue, however, finishing with two for 47 to help Hurricanes pull off a crushing 184-run victory over their perennial rivals.

Hurricanes had earlier tallied a massive 333 for six off their 50 overs with captain Kieran Powell hammering a superb career-best 135.
