Red Stripe Premier League Monday Night Football returned last night, following an agreement between Red Stripe, Caribbean sports cable giant and broadcast rights holder SportsMax, and the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA).

The agreement is for the broadcast to continue through to the end of the 2016/17 season. Matches will be aired live in Jamaica and 28 other Caribbean countries; on Digicel's PlayGo app on SportsMax2; and in the USA and Canada on sister channel, CEEN TV.

The Red Stripe Premier League's production has, over the past two years, been in rarefied air with SportsMax employing the use of a newly kitted 13-camera production facility in high definition.

According to SportsMax head of marketing, Tanya Lee, the return of Monday Night Football and further investment in local football is critical for the local development of the sport.

"Today, we consider this reinvestment in Jamaica's local professional football to be a renewal of our partnership with the JFF and the PLCA in developing the future of football. As a group, we have invested significantly, supporting football through the JFF over the past 13 years," Lee said.

"Red Stripe is excited about Digicel's decision to support professional football in Jamaica. We want to see more partnerships in support of the Red Stripe Premier League as this augers well for local football," said Blandine JnPaul-Reid, Red Stripe's head of marketing & innovation.
