Big Bash wins for Wilderness,Trinity Land

Wilderness and Trinity Land both scored convincing wins as the St Mary Cricket Association T20 Big Bash cricket competition bowled off last Sunday at Day's Mountain Oval.

The competition, which is sponsored by L.P. Martin Funeral Supplies, Costly Construction, Braham's Texaco, and Beaches Ocho Rios saw Trinity Land defeating Oxford by 18 runs, and Wilderness scoring a 17-run victory over favourites Day's Mountain.

Trinity Land, paced by Desmond McKenzie, 45, and Delroy Graham, 28 not out, rattled up 134 for two, while Oxford could only manage 130 for nine off their allotted overs, with Listen Williston getting 36.

In the feature encounter, Wilderness smashed 233 for eight off their 20 overs, with Renar Ross, 61, and Bryan Wright, 60, the top scorers against Kareem Hackett, four for 28, and Kevin Brown, three for 34.

In reply, Day's Mountain reached 216 for three. Kevron Douglas, 86, and Maurice Henry, 53.

Competition continues next Sunday with four matches. At Three Hills Oval, Port Maria tackle Three Hills in the opening encounter at 9:30 before Boscobel face Portland at 2 p.m. At Day's Mountain, Top Pen go up against Gayle in the opener and Beaches/Sandals and Highgate clash in the feature.
