Felix added to Racers GP, while Powell pulls out
Former world-record holder Asafa Powell has withdrawn from Saturday's JN Racers Grand Prix meet at the National Stadium, while Allyson Felix has been added to the 200m line-up for the event.
Powell was expected to feature in the Salute to a Legend farewell 100m feature event with Usain Bolt, but had to pull out of the meet due to a hamstring strain, according to the director of production, promotion and media for the JN Racers Grand Prix, Dennis Gordon.
He becomes the second high-profile athlete to withdraw from the meet, following news that double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson was pulling out. No reason was given for Thompson's withdrawal.
Meanwhile, Felix, a multiple Olympic and World Championships gold medal winner, has been added to the 200m field, which includes Jenna Prandini, Jura Levy and Kimberly Duncan.
Felix has won nine Olympic medals, including six gold medals, as well as 12 World Championships medals, including nine gold.
The JN Racers Grand Prix will be Usain Bolt's final competitive race in Jamaica and will feature several global track and field megastars such as Mo Farah, David Rudisha, Yohan Blake, Christian Taylor and Sally Pearson.
